Vernon F. Korhn Jr. Scholarship
The Vernon F. Korhn, Jr. Student Athlete Scholarship was created in 2022 to honor Mr. Korhn, who was a Plant Panther through and through. On the field, Mr. Korhn was a multi-sport varsity athlete, varsity football team captain, and recipient of the 1962 Guy Toph Award. Off the field, Mr. Korhn was an honor roll student, Class President and Pantherilla King.
This scholarship represents the qualities that Mr. Korhn learned at Plant High School both in the classroom and on the athletic fields. The recipient of this award is someone who embodies what it means to be a Panther. The qualities in athletics include, selflessness, dedication, humbleness in victory, and graciousness in defeat. Off the field, the qualities include high academic achievement, impeccable conduct, leadership, honesty, trust, strong character and steadfast morals and values. These qualities together demonstrate how being part of a team transforms many individuals into winners in the game of life.
